As a film maker, John has had much success with several of his films winning awards and gaining international recognition. His film Room Temp -3 was presented at the Grand Final of the Algave Film Festival in Portugal, while The Brigde was winner of the Best Australian Film award in the Moomba International Film Festival.
John is currently seeking support for a national tour of his theatrical adaptation of John Roarty's (OA) autobiography Captives of Care to be staged early 1999.
