Amongst his most memorable professional stage designs are Barry Humphries' Look At Me When I'm Talking To You, Summer of the Seventeenth Doll, The One Day of The Year, The Real Thing, The Glass Menagerie, Black River, Oscar's Turn To Sing, Crown Matrimonial. He has also been designer for Christmas At The Opera House for the Sydney Opera House Trust and Les Miserables at the Hills Centre.
The Theatre Design course at the Australian Theatre for Young People was initiated by Derrick. He is also a gifted scenic artist, painting sets for all the major theatre companies across the country including The Sydney Theatre Company and The Australian Opera.
